What's the longest time you can do Rehab?

Postby Harry78 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 2:00 am

A bit of an odd question as I would imagine the rehab centre will tell you how long you need rehab for, but out of interest more than anything else, what is the longest amount of time you can stay at a rehab centre? I heard of a 12 month rehab. I am not sure I want that long.

There are rehab centres who do a 12 month programme, but that is more geared to the 18 to 25 age group. The norm is 4 to 8 weeks primary care, and in more severe cases, 12 weeks. This can also be followed up by 2 to 12 weeks secondary care. It would be best speaking to the rehab centre you are thinking of going to, and asking them what they think. They will know the answer.

I think there shouldn't be a common equation for all because it changes with person mental stability and will power...i am saying because you will find some of the persons that they were not able to abuse the alcohol after 12 month and so.....exact reverse that some of the persons you might found that they are mentally strong and they can do it in 6 month and so on......

i think you can also have an option to have an Outpatient treatment program where you can go back home after a treatment session.. this is a good option for those who do not want to stay in the rehab center. though i think it's not a bad idea to consult the staffs in the rahab center to further discuss your needs. by the way i'm planning to enter a rehab center one of this days.been searching online about treatment programs, i've to check what best suits me.

Have you thought of a home detox, if you don't want to stay in a rehab centre.

That's the best one available. My mates sister did it, and it worked very well for her. There is a lot of support during and after your detox unlike a lot out there I can mention, and it cheaper than rehab centres.

home detox sounds really convenient..had a talk about this with my partner. she likes the idea too however one of her relatives from US are planning to take custody of her in the coming months. they just offered a help for both of us thinking it might be better for us to part ways for a while so we can deal with our own addiction.. will she be making a lot of adjustments if she opted to start the home detox now and then migrates to her relatives place? we're thinking positively about this idea.

Rehab time will depend on the severity of the addiction and the period of time. There are many programs for this 4-12 weeks range. But a proper treatment under the skilled people will do the best for rehabilitation. A high self confidence and a strong self comitment will reduce the required rehab time.

I think it depends on your severity, but it's just my opinion because am still afraid to go to rehabilitation, but I'm in 7 days without drinking alcohol
